Abstract

This research study entitled “Problems in Managing ELT Classroom” attempted to find out the problems in
managing ELT classrooms for effective English language teaching. This study accounts for the problems of
classroom management in lower secondary and secondary level classes. For this purpose, I collected data in
which total sample population of the study was sixty: fifty students and ten teachers. The students were
selected by using random (simple random) sampling procedure and the teachers who were teaching at the
same level were purposively selected. I developed a check list and questionnaire to collect the data and the
data were analyzed descriptively. This study found that the condition of ELT classroom management was
not satisfactory. The major problems were such as lack of furniture, teaching materials, proper maintenance
of the classroom etc.
